JOB TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER (Assoc.
Director or Director) Status: full time, exempt Wage: $53,500 - $70,000, pay commensurate with experience Y Job Grade 8 or 9 Reports to: CEO Probation: Subject to a 12-month introductory (probationary) period POSITION SUMMARY: This onsite position is for someone who is an HR Generalist with some ability to handle disciplinary issues, internal investigations, and policy discussions as situations arise.
Responsibilities include recruiting and onboarding, training, child sexual abuse prevention, benefits for the FT staff who choose it and FMLA/ADA which arise occasionally.
The Y has a year-round staff of about 300, 250 of whom are part time, with an addition of about 30 camp counselors in summer.
At present this is a one-person department, and includes hands-on administrative work.
Minimal corporate oversight and reporting to Y-USA; the Missoula Y is a locally managed, well-established and respected non-profit.
The position reports to the CEO who has an HR background.
If someone with a higher level of experience and expertise were interested in the position, there is the opportunity to grow the position to a regional job, due to need for HR expertise and assistance at several of the other Y’s in Montana.
The Missoula Y is also poised for growth, with a capital campaign and facility remodel currently underway, and the likelihood of satellite programs being started in the surrounding areas.
This position is responsible for the organization, delivery and quality of human resources and staff development, and is critical in setting the tone and culture of the Missoula YMCA, exemplifying the key competencies of YMCA cause-driven leadership, abuse prevention and other employee practices and procedures.
Some volunteer and staff input processes are also required.
Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit, community service organization and have the flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment.
Works with general supervision.
Candidates for this job must have prior experience in a Human Resources position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Promotes and incorporats the Y’s core values and character development model into all services and activities.
Helps to attract and inspire a community of leadership staff; helps to train/develop exempt and non-exempt and part/full-time program staff and volunteers to meet the YMCA’s strategic operational initiatives.
Manages the new hire process, from posting positions, assisting with interviews or interview questions as needed, reviewing and processing new hire paperwork in HRIS, following up insure completeness, orders background checks and works with payroll to complete the hiring process Presents new staff orientation on a monthly basis, updates the program as needed Works with insurance representatives on annual health and benefit changes, manages the open enrollment process and ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted timely Contacts eligible staff, provides paperwork and enrolls them in health and benefit programs Reviews monthly insurance bills for accuracy, updates policies for additions and deletions as necessary Handles FMLA, ADA requests and paperwork as needed Trains in child sexual abuse prevention methods and procedures, assigns new staff training, annual employee training and required reporting to Y-USA Completes employment verification requests Completes all Workers Compensation First Report of Injury forms and maintains OSHA compliance and reporting.
Completes all unemployment forms with the assistance of third party administrator.
Participates as a member of the Leadership Team and other ad hoc groups as necessary Works with staff to create a culture of quality by establishing cause-driven leadership development plans for self and staff, ensuring the necessary support to meet those goals.
This support includes development of sound practices in hiring, on-boarding, and training of new staff while instilling a culture of full accountability and collaboration in each director.
Acts as a liaison between employees and management.
Depending on circumstances will lead investigations, provide guidance, and make recommendations with the support of the CEO.
Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with CEO and appropriate leadership.
Participates in larger association work including planning staff rallies, trainings and regular meetings.
Reviews, writes and updates job descriptions Remains current with employment laws and regulations.
Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources, and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel.
Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.
Ensures confidentiality of all HR documents and personnel matters Complete required child sexual abuse prevention training and comply with legal and ethical obligation as a mandatory reporter of suspected child abuse and cooperate fully with any investigation of such abuse.
Performs other duties as assigned.
