The Elections Office is seeking an *ELECTION SPECIALIST* to join their team.
This position will perform a variety of complex clerical duties primarily in support of conducting elections for the Election Department.

* *Representative Examples of Work* Prepares for general, primary, school and special elections by ensuring Secretary of State submittal deadlines are met, processing candidate filings, training and scheduling election judges.
Organizes and ensures delivery of election supplies, prints and issues ballots, prepares and processes absentee ballots, visits polling places, answers procedural questions, and performs election set-up and take-down.
Processes initiative petitions, election ballots, election cards, and verifies voters.
Adds new voters and cancels out voters in the Montana Votes system.
Researches, references and applies Montana Code Annotated, Administrative Rules of Montana, Montana State and Missoula County Policies regarding elections administration.
Maintains files and determines destruction dates for election materials according to established record retention schedules.
Manages a variety of electronic files and paperless systems, including legal documents, forms, and reports to facilitate public access.
Provides information and services to the public by phone, in person and through written and electronic correspondence.
Anticipates and interprets customer’s needs and asks appropriate questions; does research as necessary; fills customer requests including any follow-up.
Administers oaths and affirmations, and witnesses signatures.
*Minimum Qualifications* · High School diploma or GED.
· Requires two years of clerical experience, including personal computer use, data entry, and face-to-face customer service in an office or retail environment.
· Requires a valid Montana Driver’s License.
*Physical/Environmental Demands* Employee commonly remains in an office setting.
May require intermittent strenuous physical activity over several days’ time, including moving heavy boxes (65 lbs.
) and moving heavy machinery in preparation for Election Day.
Requires the use of motor vehicle to pick up and deliver election supplies.
