We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to our menu.
You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.
An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals.
They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking.
Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.
The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele and replicate our concept in the future.
This will provide significant upward mobility in the future.
*Responsibilities*
Prepare food items per guest orders of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion, and presentation standards; complete mis en place and set-up station for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner service.
* Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not prepare beyond estimated needs.
* Operate, maintain and properly clean kitchen equipment, including deep fryer, broiler, stove, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, waffle iron, and flat top grill.
* Date all food containers and rotate as per policies, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures; check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up; note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages; return all food items not used to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables; assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss and usage per policies.
* Serves meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
* Executes cold food production in accordance with standards of plating guide specifications.
* Attends to the detail and presentation of each order.
* Prepares ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste; and plating meals.
* Completes hot meal preparation by grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients and assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients.
* Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs as required; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
* Stores leftovers according to established standards.
* Assists with receipt of deliveries.
* Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas.
* Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing/pot washing as needed.
* Assists with orienting new employees to their work area.
* Implements suggestions within parameter of position and refers more complex concerns to supervisor.
* Instructs personnel in use of new equipment and cleaning methods and provides efficient and effective methods of maintaining work area.
* Participates in and/or contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve quality of service and employee productivity.
*Skills*
* Proven experience as cook
* Experience in using cutting tools and cookware
* Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.
)
* Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
* Ability to work in a team
* Very good communication skills
* Excellent physical condition and stamina
