The Center for Population Health Research at the University of Montana invites applications for an Epidemiology Specialist to join their team.
The Epidemiology Specialist I will support externally funded research projects conducted at the Center for Population Health Research (CPHR).
This employee will be part of a research team focused on immunization services and vaccine-related research.
The individual in this role must have advanced knowledge of quantitative data analysis and study design in public health research.
The Epidemiology Specialist’s responsibilities will include a range of research activities, including quantitative data analyses, project management, and communications.
The employee will be required to work independently on several tasks including: Managing multiple complex data sources, including, but not limited to, National Immunization Survey (NIS) data and immunization information system (IIS) data.
Developing, testing, and applying SAS or R code for analyses of research data.
Leading biostatistical analysis using electronic immunization data or other health data sources.
Maintaining data documentation and analytic notes for research studies.
Monitoring human subjects and HIPAA adherence.
Disseminating research findings, including co-authoring peer-reviewed research papers and presenting research results.
Assisting with research proposals and grant applications, including preparing data analyses and summaries and designing and writing study designs and analytic plans.
Assisting project management activities, including, but not limited to, coordinating meetings and overseeing project budgets.
Managing primary data collection activities, which may involve collection and analysis of quantitative or qualitative data.
Collaborating with external partners on activities related to education and outreach regarding vaccinations.

Position Details: Position is full-time, 1.
0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $62,000-$70,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, public health or closely related field, or a bachelor’s degree with additional prolonged course of specialized instruction in quantitative analyses, such as demonstrated through a graduate certificate.
Advanced capabilities in SAS or R software.
Advanced knowledge regarding vaccine science or public health applications of vaccines.
Technical writing experience.
Project management experience.
