*How does this position make an impact on the community? *YWCA Missoula is a mighty force of approximately 80 staff, over 200 volunteers, as well as practicum and intern students.
We depend on our Racial Justice and Equity Director to support this force to carry out the YWCA mission for women and families facing poverty, violence and discrimination.
As the Racial Justice and Equity Director you will lead the organization’s internal and external racial justice and equity programs and initiatives.
As a leader in change management, you will grow YWCA Missoula's capacity to do action-based work that eliminates racism and creates a just and inclusive society.
This includes ongoing internal education, as well as designing and leading racial equity-related projects and programs, implementing social justice content and frameworks into existing programmatic structures, and moving teams and individuals from theory to collective action through an intersectional lens.
*The ideal candidate possesses:* * Deep working knowledge of systemic inequity and successful social change practices * Strong and efficient workload management skills to include planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following through on a variety of tasks while maintaining professional composure.
* Ability to successfully offer, accept and act on constructive criticism.
* Considerable experience facilitating equity-centered conversations and designing inclusive learning environments for individuals and with large and small groups.
* Demonstrated deep commitment to racial equity and justice, and familiarity with racial equity and justice principles.
* Knowledge of grant administration procedures, including methods of cost allocation and government standards applying to non-profit fiscal operations.
* High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required.
Bachelor’s degree or other higher education preferred.
*More about what you'll do in this role:* * Create and implement a Racial Justice and Equity Program Action Plan that guides YWCA Missoula’s internal and external equity work.
* Coordinate and facilitate YWCA Staff/Board of Directors/Volunteers BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and people of color) Affinity Groups.
* Research and support implementation of organizational best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* Implement development opportunities for the organization's board, staff, and volunteers to advance racial equity and justice knowledge base.
* Assist with policy and program evaluations through an equity lens.
* Facilitate the Racial Justice Task Force and Re-Activate the Racial Justice Advisory Council, Community, Partnerships, and Outreach * Provide leadership on community coalitions and committees to promote best practices and advance community and organizational goals, including the annual MLK Day Committee.
*Minimum Requirements:* * Availability to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong verbal and non-verbal skills, both with large groups and interpersonally.
* Willingness to travel in and out of state as needed.
* Must pass a background check designed to protect the interest of women and children served by the YWCA programs.
* Associate or bachelor's degree in social sciences, human services, criminal justice, or a related field; or equivalent experience preferred.
* Highschool Diploma or equivalent diploma required.

The base wage for this position starts at $67,000 – higher annual salary would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
