The Health Department is seeking an *ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISOR* to join their team.
This position manages the Licensed Establishment program for the Environmental Health Division of the Missoula City-County Health Department and inspects licensed establishments to protect and support the health of people, environments and communities.

Supervises employees in the Licensed Establishment Program.
Responsible for hiring, training, professional development, and performance management of employees.
Develops policies and procedures; provides rule interpretation; and monitors inspections and mandated performance requirements.
Implements methods to ensure staff safety.
Inspects food service, daycares, pools and spas, public lodging and other establishments or public facilities for compliance with state and local regulations.
Oversees plan review.
Investigates food and waterborne outbreaks.
Teaches or oversees food safety classes.
Represents environmental health programs and serves as a liaison to elected officials and the public including the business community, civic organizations, school groups, media, state, federal and local government agencies and legislative bodies.
Prepares and presents information to the Board.
Meets regularly with employees and team to provide education, share information, receive feedback, assign and direct work, and foster a productive and cooperative team.
Assists with conflict resolution and problem-solving efforts.
Makes field visits to evaluate work efforts and resolve working difficulties.
Coordinates administrative and judicial enforcement activities; drafts and proposes enforcement policies and procedures; monitors enforcement activities and participates in resolution of cases.
Evaluates cost of services; monitors revenues and expenses; manages contracts related to programs; serves on the Health Department management team.
Participates in strategic and emergency planning, quality improvement, performance management, workforce development, and accreditation documentation and activities.
Serves as part of incident command during emergencies.
Participates in department-wide strategic activities.
Advocates for regulations and policies that protect public and environmental health.
*Minimum Qualifications* · Requires a bachelor’s degree.
Degrees best suited to this position are microbiology, environmental health, environmental sciences, or degrees in the biological or physical sciences.
· Requires a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter credit hours in physical and biological sciences, including at least one successfully completed course in each of the following: chemistry, microbiology, and biology.
· Requires 2 years of professional experience in environmental health or related fields.
· Requires one year of experience in direct staff supervision.
· : Requires registration as a Sanitarian in Training or Sanitarian with the state of Montana within one month of hiring.
· Requires a valid Montana driver's license.
· New employees will be asked to volunteer vaccination status for required vaccines upon hire and will be offered assistance to receive necessary immunizations.
Employees who have not received the vaccines required for their positions or who are unwilling to voluntarily provide vaccination status for required vaccines will receive a reasonable accommodation where such accommodation does not require an undue hardship or endanger the health or safety of any person.
