is a non-profit corporation formed to provide alternative correctional programs in the Missoula community.
The Missoula Pre-Release Center is one of these programs.
The position requires a current State of Montana driver’s license.
Mental demands are paramount due to the intensity of the work and the emotional demands of residents.
Physical demands include the ability to restrain inmates in crisis situations and the ability to observe and hear inmates.
Therefore, the Director of Treatment needs to be in good physical condition and mobile.
The Center is a 24-hour facility.
The regular work schedule is 8:00 a.
m.
– 4:00 p.
m.
with Saturday and Sundays off.
Position requires shared on call responsibilities so flexibility in work hours is required.
Meal breaks are optional and will be explained during the interview.

*Program Description*: The Missoula Prerelease Center serves 94 adult male and 23 female inmates who have been committed to the Montana State Prison or the Department of Corrections and subsequently transferred to the Center.
The Center provides housing, food services, counseling, supervision, life skills training and referral services for all residents.
The primary emphasis of the program is to provide residents with assistance needed for successful reintegration into the community.
*Typical Duties: *The Director of Treatment directly supervises the Treatment Coordinators/Case managers and therefore indirectly all treatment staff.
The position is responsible for training new treatment staff; organizing and delegating responsibilities to staff members; monitoring treatment staff's performance of their required duties; auditing on a monthly basis, resident file maintenance, including risk and needs assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, chronological history notes, and other pertinent treatment and security items.
The Director of Treatment meets weekly with the Treatment Coordinators to review case planning, progress an problems, provide input and guidance, and review various required paperwork.
The Director of Treatment evaluates those staff members he/she directly supervises, keeps accurate documentation of meetings held those staff members, and utilizes progressive discipline as necessary.
The Director of Treatment meets bimonthly with all treatment staff to review difficult cases, discuss concerns, upcoming changes, policies, and provide training.
The position recommends steps for staff development to the Executive Director.
The Director of Treatment serves on the interview committee for the hiring of all treatment staff may serve on the hiring committee of other MCS positions as requested by the Executive Director.
The position is responsible for the recruitment and supervision of all University of Montana practicum students, interns, and community volunteers.
The Director of Treatment performs all duties required of a Treatment Coordinator for a limited resident caseload - conducts risk and needs assessments, develops a specific individualized treatment plan for the resident, refers a resident to the appropriate community agencies; and completes an initial functionality scale.
The Director of Treatment directly supervises a Case Manager responsible for implementing the treatment plan developed by the Director of Treatment.
The Director of Treatment ensures that continuity of programming continues for residents by performing Treatment Coordinator and/or Case Manager duties when a position is vacant.
The Director of Treatment provides oversight of in-house MRT groups, and may facilitate a group.
The position provides intervention meetings with residents having difficulties in the program.
The Director of Treatment is responsible for meeting with community resources to determine the suitable services for residents and maintaining an ongoing relationship with community resources.
The position maintains documentation of licensure for all treatment providers utilized by MCS.
The Director of Treatment researches new treatment programs, ensuring the programs are evidence based or informed, and presents ideas for the implementation of new treatment programs, methods, or procedures to the Executive Director for consideration.
If approved, the Director of Treatment is responsible for implementing the new program.
The Director of Treatment attends various committees whose purpose is to coordinate, develop resources, and educate others on issues that affect our resident population i.
e.
housing, mental health, addiction, employment.
The position serves as the lead contact for the DOC Contract Manager on all treatment matters, the State Parole and Probation officers, and the Board of Pardons and Parole.
The Director of Treatment serves as a victim advocate for PREA incidents and on the Emergency Operations Planning team.
The position may provide mental health/suicide intervention on site with a resident and makes appropriate referrals for the resident.
3 The Director of Treatment serves on the screening committee for potential new residents and may interview personally those offenders wishing to be placed at the Missoula Prerelease Center.
The position finalizes all screening paperwork.
In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Director of Treatment ensures that MCS is meeting all contractual requirements pertaining to resident programming, documentation, and report requirements mandated by the Department of Corrections.
The Director of Treatment shares on call responsibilities with the Director of Security and Treatment Coordinators.
The Director of Treatment must demonstrate professionalism by balancing time in an effective manner to train with, meet with, and provide ongoing support to treatment staff members; maintaining good personal hygiene and good physical conditioning; maintaining consistency in following rules, regulations and policies; being punctual in attendance, working shifts as scheduled, attending staff meetings and training required; completing duties in the time lines specified; being assertive with coworkers, residents, community contacts and supervisor; making decisions based on objective information, considering the needs and safety of both the residents and the community; performing job duties using safe operating procedures; knowing and administering First Aide/CPR procedures as needed; reporting hazards and accidents in the work place; performing other duties/responsibilities as assigned; following directions as given by supervisor; maintaining corporation, agency and resident confidentiality as defined by policy.
*Qualifications*: Knowledge of the Missoula community and community resources; Montana's correctional system -- its organization and methods of operating; sentencing terminology; treatment principles in working with an offender population - cognitive behavioral treatment, criminogenic factors, MRT principals, risk and needs assessments, treatment contracts, mental health, and addiction principals; personnel supervision and organization skills for prioritizing work load and delegating tasks.
Must possess typing, computer and word processing knowledge and skills.
Ability to physically respond in emergency situations, effectively and assertively communicate orally and in writing; objectively assess individual needs and attend to the details of monitoring individual programs; operate a motor vehicle; follow written and oral instructions explicitly; make appropriate decisions within the limits of the position's authority, act with initiative, exercise good judgement and model good leadership; maintain effective working relationships with employees, offenders, the public and other agencies; consistently apply rules and regulations and follow agency policies and procedures; and function effectively under stressful conditions.
*Education and Experience: *Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field of study and four years of progressive responsibility in the field of Corrections….

* *Compensation*: This position’s salary is $ 72,800- $93,600 annually upon successful completion of probation.
