Rocky Mountain Biologicals is a small, yet growing organization that works closely with our sister company in South Korea.
We’re looking for the right person to join our team of 15 employees as a cell culture research and development technician.
*About the Position*
RMBIO is seeking someone with experience in biological chemistry or biochemical engineering, molecular and microbial biology, and protein purification to assist with ongoing cell culture, protein purification, chromatography, product development, and scale-up projects.
R&D staff will work closely with the Quality and Manufacturing departments to optimize processes, develop protocols, and enhance product quality.
Technicians must be capable of working independently while practicing effective time management to ensure project timelines are met.
R&D staff report directly to the R&D Manager.
*Position Responsibilities:*
* Perform cell culture assays (mammalian cells, stem cells, and bacterial cells) to test various biological materials.
* Perform R&D tasks in areas of protein purification, media testing and development, and process development and improvement.
* Develop and maintain appropriate Quality Systems consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)/Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or ISO requirements.
* Actively contribute to testing, data collection, trend analysis, investigation and to improvements to processes, products, and systems.
* Development and utilization of testing and validation techniques to support new and current product testing methods.
* Maintain calibration/validation schedules.
Testing expectations may include biological, microbiological assays, and environmental monitoring in controlled environments.
* Work closely with operations and sales personnel to identify and prioritize testing and release requirements.
* Troubleshooting logistical and technical problems as they arise in the QC/QA departments.
* Communicate with management when problems arise, providing necessary information and assisting in developing viable solutions.
* Function as an in-house QC resource to support process and method/process improvement initiatives.
* Perform testing as needed in the laboratory to maintain timelines for product disposition.
* May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor.
*Position Requirements:*
* *3 years experience (academic or industry) with diverse mammalian cell lines and stem cell cultivation.
*
* Preferred candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, or demonstrate equivalent experience, in biological chemistry and research, Quality Control, Biology, Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
* A working understanding of cGMP regulations and industry guidance is preferred.
* Technical knowledge of analytical techniques used in the laboratory, through formal and/or informal training.
* Experience with protein or biologics purification and manufacturing, and/or chromatography is preferred.
* Ability to work in a team environment and interact with other groups including Manufacturing, Product Development, etc.
* Organized, with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
* Ability to support project work and the ability to perform project work independently.
* Capable of following Good Documentation Practices to track and log project progress and findings.
* Ability to proactively problem solve and mitigate issues as they arise.
*Work Environment:*
Position requires time in a laboratory environment, operating equipment and handling a variety of chemicals.
Proper attire and adherence to safety protocols is required.
Entry to all manufacturing and technical areas requires proper training and/or accompaniment by a trained area representative.
