Summary: Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with project management experience.
The position location will be based out of Missoula, Montana.
The Senior Civil Engineer will provide project management and strategic team leadership to facilitate growth of our higher-end services civil engineering practice across Tetra Tech’s regional, national, and global footprint.
The selected candidate will prepare successful business development strategies and lead in their execution.
The successful candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in a wide variety of civil engineering pursuits and the ability to lead project teams in the execution of engineering services.
A key success metric includes assembling and managing technical teams to respond to client project and program needs that result in meeting client budget and schedule criteria and Tetra Tech profitability goals.
Fostering a collaborative work environment locally and across Tetra Tech’s Operating Units, mentoring team members, developing technical areas of expertise, and promoting and practicing a safe work environment are also key performance metrics.
Success in this role will require having direct engagement in client accounts and business development efforts.

Your Role: Rapidly integrate yourself into and familiarize yourself with Tetra Tech’s current organizational structure to leverage Tetra Tech’s diverse service offerings.
Provide senior leadership support to the Environmental Consulting Services (ECS) operating unit, other national and international teams within Tetra Tech.
Leadership support includes a focus on business strategy, client engagement, opportunity identification and pursuit, operational support, expertise integration and partnering across Tetra Tech’s operating units, and team member mentoring.
Be a key leader in the expansion/growth of Tetra Tech’s engineering practice regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Develop strategic capture plans for clients; preparing cost and technical proposals that address client needs.
Identify resources and develop teams within Tetra Tech that can effectively and efficiently service client needs and maintain good client communications.
Work with project managers to perform comprehensive analysis of account potential, market share, and remaining winnable opportunities.
Other activities will include RFP management, contract negotiation, and project implementation.
Collaborate with Tetra Tech operational units worldwide and develop and implement growth strategies to increase profitability for a broad range of integrated services related to the civil engineering practice across strategically important market segments.
Demonstrate that you are instrumental to the capture of $400K of new orders over your first year of employment, followed by an increasing trend toward $1M of revenue annually over the following two years.
Collaborate with the company's leadership team to develop strategic business pursuits to provide engineering services and cross operating unit services.
Regularly bring forward key customer and market insights and proactively develop ideas for pilots and initiatives.
Capitalize on industry relationships/expertise/professional network to maintain and establish new relationships and ensure they are managed for growth.
Energize and inspire the team to feel highly supported by leadership and motivated to assertively compete every day for the business.
Attract and assist in recruiting key talent who fit with Tetra Tech’s entrepreneurial culture and team approach.
Qualifications: BS degree in civil engineering, is required.
An advanced degree is preferred.
30 years of technical and project managerial experience with water, wastewater, and general civil engineering services.
Must have a Professional Engineer registration in Montana, Oregon, and Idaho and the ability to receive those registrations through reciprocity in strategically designated markets.
Must have a solid understanding of the commercial market sector including market potential, competition, clients, forecasting, and capture strategy.
Direct proven experience in cross selling services across accounts and diversifying the portfolio to drive profit potential and size of the accounts.
Senior level operating knowledge of market competitors that can be used to develop more competitive value propositions for accounts and key pursuits.
Dynamic, self-starter with successful experience with operational and program-level leadership, business development, and strategic planning.
Strong network of clients and established relationships.
Demonstrated experience in managing project and group finances with strong profitability.
Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability developing and delivering effective presentations to customers and management.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Target salary range: $120,000 to $135,000.
