you’ll not only act as an ambassador enhancing visitors’ appreciation of the Missoula area, but also engage
with the community and be a part of the exciting, ever-evolving tourism and hospitality industry.
You’ll be the “go-to” person for everything Missoula and help travelers (and residents) find:
Beloved eateries and watering holes
Wilderness trails and nature escapes
Live music, theater, and festivals
Local artisans and funky shops
Museums and arts & culture events
Comfortable and friendly accommodations
You’ll know the great floating routes and recreation trails, museum exhibits, can’t-miss attractions and more.
You’ll help visitors navigate national and state parks, discover sapphire mines and hot springs, and plan
mountain road trips and camping getaways in a state with a history as diverse as the landscape.
Job Title: Visitor Services Travel Counselor
Reports To: Visitor Services and Administrative Coordinator
Available Positions: 2
Hours: Part-time, temporary position from early May through October.
Hours split between 2 individuals for an
average of 15-20 hours per week.
Employees can alternate working weekends.
Start time on Monday-Friday
can be slightly flexible but Travel Counselors mainly cover the following hours:
Early May to Memorial Day: Saturdays 9 AM–5 PM, Sundays 10 AM-3 PM.
Memorial Day to Labor Day: Monday-Friday 4-7 PM, Saturdays 9 AM-5 PM, Sundays 10 AM-3 PM.
Labor Day through October: Saturdays 9 AM–5 PM, Sundays 10 AM-3 PM through September.
Saturdays only in October, 9 AM-5 PM.
Opportunity for additional hours to cover staff vacation time M-F 9 AM-5 PM

Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors both in-person and over the phone
Provide accurate and helpful information to visitors of all ages by maintaining knowledge of Missoula’s
attractions, recreation areas, events, accommodations and travel conditions
Maintain a welcoming and clean VIC, including replenishing display racks with materials
Compile materials for conferences and events taking place in Missoula
Input events into the online calendar and track visitor registration
Assist with general office tasks and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in assisting a variety of individuals
Punctual, dependable, and professional
Proficiency with general office equipment and basic computer skills
Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and interruptions with poise, confidence, and cheerfulness
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen.
The
employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand;
walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift
and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently up and down stairs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
