Log yard positions include bunking and wrapping/shipping, sawmill and sawmill helpers and turn mill team members.
Must be 18 years of age, able to lift 75 pounds regularly.
This is an outdoor, year round, full-time position so you must like being outside.
Some construction experience and equipment use a plus.
Responsibilities are as follows:
*Sawmill helper:* Assist Woodmizer Band sawmill operator while cutting cants for the Turn production mill, sorting slab wood to make firewood bundles and maintaining the saw.
Helper and Sawyer trade positions regularly to ensure proficiency in both responsibilities.
*Bunking-Wrapping/Shipping Coordinator: * move finished product with a skid steer or Hyster forklift from Turn mill to peeling racks and then to skids to be organized into bunks, wrapped with protective lumber wrap and banded.
Then, once ready, the bunks are loaded onto semi-trucks using the skid steer or forklift for final shipping.
*Turn Mill team member: *Team members run lathe, groover, notcher and also check for accuracy according to plan drawings for quality control.
Must be consistent, able to read a tape measure, dependable and have an attention to detail.
Members rotate stations to ensure proficiency in each station.
Must occaissionally work outside when milling logs larger than 16" in diameter.
