Job Description: Estimator/Project Manager
Montana Fabrication Works LLC has an immediate opening in our Stevensville, MT facility for the position of Estimator/Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in material handling equipment such as conveyors, hoppers, silos and other structural steel and pressure vessel experience preferred.
This is an in-house position only, with relocation required.
The primary responsibility of this position is to estimate direct labor and material costs required for the fabrication of AISC steel structures including modules, sub-assemblies, structural steel, platework, and components.
The Estimator/Project Manager evaluates the bid specifications and drawings, and communicates with EPC representatives to ensure that all technical and commercial project requirements are thoroughly understood and accounted for in our bid proposals.
The Estimator/Project Manager prepares and submits bid proposals, including qualifications and exceptions, and follows-up with customers to assist them during their bid evaluation.
After receipt of award, the Estimator/Project Manager often serves on the Project Team to assist in project planning, communication, monitoring, and execution.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with AWS D1.
1 Structural Welding Code.
CWB familiarity a plus.
Familiarity with AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings.
Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements (Sec VIII and B31.
3).
Familiarity with Strumis MRP steel fabrication software and Microsoft Office.
Montana Fabrication uses SDS/2, AutoCAD, Advance Steel, and Inventor.
SKILLS
Ability to read construction drawings (process piping and structural) and create material takeoffs.
Ability to think logically and organize complex projects into manageable phases.
Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers and customers (verbal and written).
Ability to research prior in-house fabrication projects to establish baseline fabrication rates.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a piping or steel fabrication estimator.
Industrial or Engineering degree preferred.
