POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing a portion of the Montana production floor during the day shift and provides oversight of up to five production lines and the Supervisors/Work Leaders reporting directly to meet daily production budgets in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards for each specific line.
In addition, the position oversees Parts/Skin Departments and works directly with the Materials Manager with Stock Room and needed floor transactions, Yard Lift Truck Drivers/Material Handlers, and yard workers.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership to the Production floor by promoting individual team member respect and fairness as well as assuring high safety standards, desired quality and productivity expectations.
Key responsibilities include the direct supervision of production direct labor and manufacturing-related personnel during the fabrication and assembly of various aluminum trailers.
Position also provides key support for the line supervisors and workers with helping remove and eliminate daily roadblocks that may hinder success and functions as an efficient problem solver.
Works with Plant Manager to support production planning, scheduling and sequencing of line build schedules while assessing daily material, assembly and finish plans for production staff (staff line layout); identifies potential issues on work orders and works with Weld Shop Supervisor, Plant Manager, Sales and Design Teams to resolve any issues.
Must focus on upcoming production schedule with a keen focus on needed parts, assemblies, and kits to assure a smooth build process that is not hindered by roadblocks.
Must assure that work orders are printed out in advance for Skin, Parts & Production Lines.
Manages the employee schedule to ensure adequate labor is available to meet production targets.
Maintains the labor rate within the established range and seeks to improve efficiencies.
Trouble shoots issues on the Production floor; identifies road blocks and seeks the involvement of available resources to establish appropriate solutions.
Managers line set-up with keeping 5S concepts in mind.
Serves as the main line of communication between Production Supervisors and Plant Manager.
Manages the performance of production staff by setting expectations and goals; ensures that employees are provided both positive and constructive feedback in a timely manner.
Identifies any material, WIP and labor issue and addresses immediately to resolve.
Ensures compliance with company policies, laws and regulations, and best practices.
Manages Production floor within established budget and notifies Plant Manager immediately for any significant deviations from budget.
Ensures a positive work environment that is clean, organized, and respectful.
Works closely with Purchasing and Material Handlers to ensure materials are available.
Coordinates with Logistics to ensure shipping needs are being met.
Works safely by following all safety policies and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensures employees are held to a high expectation of safety.
Ensures that finished product meets quality expectations.
Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of “good enough is never good enough”.
Effectively multi-tasks production issues and avoids spending too much time on one issue, where multiple issues deserve equal attention.
Must utilize available resources to get things done and remain in command for all production activities.
Performs other related tasks as may be assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of leadership experience.
May consider inhouse Leadership Trainee.
Four years of experience within a construction management, manufacturing, or industrial industry.
Prior experience as a project manager or production supervisor with familiarity with safety, quality, and labor utilization standards.
